History

 

The Center for Mesoamerican Studies (CMS) is an interdisciplinary organization dedicated to the study, treatment and dissemination of knowledge and scientific data concerning the history and cultures of Mesoamerica (heterogenic cultural area dispersed over the regions of the contemporary states of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador and Honduras).

CMS serves to organize and coordinate the work of the Mesoamericanist researchers of the Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University in Bratislava and the other specialist from the academic world whose professional concerns target the research and study within the fields of the archaeology, anthropology and writing systems of Mesoamerican civilization.

The primary activities of CMS are research, lectures and publication, as well as the collaboration and organization of the international events and conferences with the aim to foster the communication over the fields of interests.
